Downtown Portland, Maine

Pied-á-Terre

A light-filled city apartment, thoughtfully furnished as a calm retreat from downtown Portland. Contemporary furnishings, art and natural materials create a home that feels collected rather than decorated.

Design Notes

A calm retreat in the city, curated, not decorated.

Rather than changing the architecture, this project focused on atmosphere. Existing architectural details provided the backdrop, while furniture, lighting, textiles and artwork were selected to create a home that feels calm, personal and quietly expressive.

Vintage rugs introduce warmth beneath contemporary furnishings, while plants, natural materials and original artwork soften the minimalist palette. Every object has space to breathe, allowing the apartment to feel refined, personal and comfortably lived in.

a quiet sense of discovery
